“Mariano: Variations on a Theme”, the first major retrospective exhibition of Mariano Rodríguez in the United States, will open on August 5 at the Pérez Art Museum in Miami. Spanning nearly six decades of artistic production, this retrospective features paintings, watercolors, and drawings on loan from major private and institutional collections, including the Fundación Mariano Rodríguez.
“Mariano: Variations on a Theme” has been organized by the McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College, the first venue for the exhibition in September 2021, in collaboration with the Mariano Rodríguez Foundation. The exhibition was curated by Elizabeth Thompson Goizueta with the support of Boston College and the McMullen Museum’s Latin American Art Initiative. The presentation of the exhibition at the Pérez Art Museum has been coordinated by Iberia Pérez González, coordinator of the Andrew W. Mellon Caribbean Cultural Institute, together with René Morales, former Director of Curatorial Affairs of the PAMM and current chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago.
